Visual Storytelling – Photography and Videography as Tools for Education

This course is an example of how to work with photography and videography in your school. As tools to facilitate discovery, curiosity and learning. We will learn

• how to use free software;
• how to create subtitles for videos: 
• how to apply basic techniques for shooting and editing photos and videos;
• how to set up, record and shoot interviews and portraits;
• how to ad sounds, music, narration, graphics and text to your video;
• how to apply pedagogical photography and videography teaching methods;
• how to apply camera functions, settings and techniques;
• how to become confident in designing educational projects using photography and videography.

Furthermore we will get into visual storytelling and idea generation and we will improve our English language skills at the same time.

This course is aimed at teachers and school staff from pre-school level to primary, secondary, vocational, adult and special needs education. It is for anyone interested in photography and videography as a means to discover and learn at the same time.

About your course instructor

He looks back on more than 30 years of work in the field of audiovisual media. He worked for the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, the film festival CINEVIDEO, became a journalist, a radio presenter, worked as a musician, composer, filmmaker and prop master on numerous TV and film productions. This was followed by film education projects in cooperation with schools, social institutions, youth centres and independent organisations in southern Germany. In 2015, he moved to Lisbon, Portugal. Since then, he has been leading teacher training courses within the framework of Erasmus+ KA1. As an Erasmus+ expert, he has led projects in Austria, Greece and La Réunion in recent years.

In diesem Kurs lernen wir, wie man mit Fotografie und Videographie im Bildungsbereich arbeiten kann. Um das Entdecken, die Neugier und das Lernen zu fördern. Wir werden lernen

• wie man freie Software benutzt;
• wie man Untertitel für Videos erstellt:
• wie man grundlegende Techniken für die Aufnahme und Bearbeitung von Fotos und Videos anwendet;
• wie man Interviews und Porträts einrichtet, aufnimmt und dreht;
• wie man Töne, Musik, Sprache, Grafiken und Text in ein Video einfügt;
• wie man pädagogisch mit Fotografie und Videographie arbeitet;
• wie man Kameraeinstellungen und -techniken anwendet;
• wie man mit Hilfe von Fotografie und Videographie Bildungsprojekte gestaltet.

Darüber hinaus werden wir über visuelles Storytelling und Ideenfindung reden und gleichzeitig unsere Deutschkenntnisse verbessern.

Dieser Kurs richtet sich an Lehrkräfte aller Schultypen und Schulstufen sowie NGOs und Einrichtungen in der Erwachsenenbildung. Er richtet sich an alle, die sich für Fotografie und Videographie als Mittel zum Entdecken und Lernen interessieren.

Über den Kursleiter

Er blickt auf eine mehr als 30-jährige Tätigkeit im Bereich der audiovisuellen Medien zurück. Er arbeitete u.a. für die Kinemathek Karlsruhe, das Filmfestival CINEVIDEO, war tätig als Journalist, Radiomoderator, Musiker, Komponist, Filmemacher und Requisiteur bei zahlreichen TV- und Filmproduktionen. Es folgten filmpädagogische Projekte in Zusammenarbeit mit Schulen, sozialen Einrichtungen, Jugendzentren und freien Trägern im süddeutschen Raum. Im Jahr 2015 zog er nach Lissabon, Portugal. Seitdem leitet er dort Lehrerfortbildungen im Rahmen von Erasmus+ KA1. Als Erasmus+ Experte leitete er in den letzten Jahren Projekte in Österreich, Griechenland und La Réunion.
